Teaching Children with Deaf Blindness

Deaf blindness refers to a concomitant visual and hearing impairment. The impairment in both these senses severely affects a child’s education, communication and development, as the child is deprived of external stimuli in the form of sounds and sights. A different teaching methodology is used for them, from what is used for those with deafness or blindness. They are capable learners who are highly disadvantaged by the lack of visual and auditory stimuli and need to be taught concepts and ideas in a world devoid of light and sound..
